COMPLETED PROJECTS AND ACTIVITIES

Çengelköy, Bostancıbaşı Abdullah Ağa Yalısı 1980

Built at the time of Sultan Mahmud II, this waterfront mansion is a prime example of waterfront residences from the 18th century along the Bosphorus. The waterfront residence, which partially stood on spikes and on water in the previous years, consists of harem and selamlık sections. While the selamlık section has survived to date mostly unchanged in its original state, the interior of harem has changed completely. The relief drawings and restoration projects of the seaside residence, which was expropriated by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 1981, were prepared by TAÇ Foundation. Since the building was beyond repair in its existing structure, it was demolished after its original pieces were secured, and rebuilt by TAÇ Foundation, which remained faithful to its original state.
