The building was commission by Hüseyin Paşa, the nephew of Köprülü Fazıl Ahmet Paşa. In 1699, theTreaty of Karlowitz was signed in this building. The oldest waterfront residence situated between Anadoluhisarı and Kanlıca, only the great hall (divanhane) on the sea survived to date. To maintain the structure, TAÇ Foundation conducted emergency renovation work in 1978, 1981 and 1986, but conservation efforts failed to start due to arduous red tape.
