One of the most important scientists of the 19^th century, Mehmet Salih Efendi is known for his work in the field of medicine. The chief physician of Sultan Abdülmecit, Hekimbaşı Salih Efendi commissioned this waterfront residence in Anadoluhisarı. The destruction of the men’s section (selamlık) in the early 20^th century also disrupted its architectural integrity. While the garden of its harem section survived to date, it is known that the main yard was the one by the selamlık section and extended towards Kanlıca. The relief drawings of the waterfront residence, which partially features the characteristics of 19^th century Ottoman architecture, were finished in 1977 and the structure was restored completely in 1978.
