Sait Halim Paşa Waterfront Residence, Yeniköy

1980

Built in the mid-19th century, this waterfront residence was later purchased by Sait Halim Paşa —the son of the Khedieve of Egypt, Abbas Hilmi Paşa. The alliance between the Ottoman Empire and Germany that led the former enter the World War I was signed here on 2 August 1914.

Built at the time of Sultan Mahmud II, this waterfront mansion is a prime example of waterfront residences from the 18th century along the Bosphorus. The waterfront residence, which partially stood on spikes and on water in the previous years, consists of harem and selamlık sections.
